How to play Dominoes

Choose a round of Dominoes and settle into its rules. Empty your hand, or hold fewer pips when both players are blocked. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Read the objective before making your first input. Use the example below to understand a decision.

Double-six draw dominoes, local two players with shared-screen visible hands.

A careful first round

Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal. Keep the objective visible.

Your goal

Empty your hand, or hold fewer pips when both players are blocked. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. Return to the instructions when a step is unclear.

Step by step

  1. Play a tile matching either open chain end.
  2. Choose which end to use.
  3. Draw only when no tile fits.
  4. Pass only with no legal tile and an empty stock.

Controls

Click or tap a piece and destination; use the turn indicator and legal-move feedback. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Look at the feedback after the action.

A useful example

An open 4 accepts 4–2, leaving 2 open. Your next round may have a different position, so inspect it before acting. Keep the game’s format in mind.

Watch out for this

You cannot ignore a legal match to draw. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Keep the stated aim separate from side details such as animation or appearance. Progress is measured by the game’s own completion or scoring rules.
